I saw a trustee today. My initial thought was to file a consumer proposal. He mentioned that it was much more expensive than bankruptcy… Once I started considering bankruptcy, he didn't answer my questions adequately. I believe bankruptcy is a very significant step, and before doing so, I think you need to be fully informed. Anyway, I had my assessment, he took my information, and I told him I would call back to confirm. I don't feel confident, despite the fact that he has his qualifications and everything else. It seems to me that a trustee should answer the person in front of them as clearly as possible. Since I haven't signed anything yet, am I obligated to continue with him if I want to file for bankruptcy, or can I see another trustee?

You are completely free to choose your trustee, as long as you have not signed the bankruptcy or proposal documents.
