I would like to know if a creditor has the right to seize a bank account containing only student loans. I was told that amounts from the government are exempt from seizure, but this information came from a friend, and I wanted to verify it. I currently have no income; I am a full-time student, and my only income will be my student loans and grants from the government. The creditor in question is the credit card from the bank I use. Therefore, I would like to know if my bank has the right to seize my account or apply the balance I owe them against my account, which contains only my student loan, knowing that this money comes from the government.

I haven't heard of any student loan funds being exempt from seizure. In any case, once the money is deposited into your bank account, it's no longer necessarily identifiable as student loan funds. Therefore, it can be seized.
